Description: 

Relief veterinarians and Relief technicians are on-demand staff ready to fill in to maintain working days when there is approved PTO or Same Day Call Outs. Relief staff help to maintain revenue, reduce employee burnout, and prevent work-day cancellations.

Procedure:

Pre-Staffing:

  • City Managers submit relief requests via the Relief Request Form
  • Relief Manager to approve requests and search for reliefs.
  • Once a relief employee is found, an email will be sent out to the City Manager with all relevant details.
  • Once the City Manager approves receiving the relief details, the job listing will be removed

Post- Staffing:

  • The relief manager will send an email to the City Manager with:
  • City Manager evaluation form (To be completed 48 hours after staffing)
  • Tech evaluation form (To be completed 24 hours post staffing)
  • Sandra Ulloa-Yost provides a .Pdf report monthly based on CM Relief evaluations - this report is onwards used to maintain satisfactory performance via the Reliefs used by The Vets.

The City Manager will reach out to the relief employee within 1 week of the shift using the following: 

  • Introduction to The Vets and team
  • Medical Expectations
  • Job Duties
  • Expected Time of arrival 
  • Dress code
  • Meeting location/parking
  • Breaks and Meals
  • Pets scheduled / type of appts and flow 
  • DVM/tech question
  • Provide Vetspire log in
