Description: 

This session will focus on how to recognize FIP in cats and the physiology behind the clinical signs. We will cover the diagnostic updates and remarkable evolution of therapy for FIP. We will discuss the clinical outcome after the use of the nucleoside analog GS-441524 and its use in the United States.

Learning Objectives:

  • To define the clinical signs of feline infectious peritonitis.
  • To review how FIP is definitively diagnosed.
  • To understand the mechanism and application of therapeutic agents in the treatment of FIP.

Your Instructor

Dr. Andrea Johnston

Dr. Johnston earned her D.V.M. from Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine at Cornell and earned her Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from UT Southwestern in Dallas. Her clinical and research interests are hepatobiliary disease and hepatocellular carcinoma.
